Stand for Canada and the Nations

Day 37-40 (Sunday June 27 to Thursday July 1)

Kingdom Reflection:
We are now in last week of the 40 Day Stand. This week we are praying for Canada and the nations. In our anthem we declare that Canada is “The true north strong and free.” True north can refer to our geographical location, but in terms of a compass, true north is about establishing a direction that helps us navigate correctly. As a nation we have guiding true north principles that are the foundational values that set our direction. On the Peace Tower of our Parliament building, we see a few of those principles engraved in the stonework. The first is Psalm 72:8, which says “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.” If we were to pray this scripture, we could say “Oh God have dominion over Canada; bring your good rule to bear upon this land!” We also see Psalm 72:1. It says “Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.” With that passage, we declare “O God help our leaders to have wisdom and judgments that lead to the good of our nation and the nations of the earth.” Lastly, there’s one more amazing scripture on window of the tower. Proverbs 29:18 says “where there is no vision, the people perish.” This of course is speaking of a vision of God. Our nation has lost its revelation of God and that loss is resulting in brokenness and the inability to receive the good life God intended. In our prayers this week, lets cry out for the Spirit of God to pour out the glory and revelation of God throughout our land. As we stand on guard for Canada lets be those who call people back to the true north principles that this land was founded upon—a life-giving relationship with God, wisdom to give justice to all, and the blessing of freedom that comes to the sons and daughters of God. May the Lord bless you and bless Canada!

Scriptures for Meditation & Prayer

After reading each scripture, practice praying its primary theme and focus. Suggestions are included after each one.

Mark 16:15 NIV
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.

John 20:21 NIV
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”

Luke 4:18-19 NIV
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Pray that the Gospel will be proclaimed and demonstrated with authenticity throughout Canada and the nations.

Ask the Holy Spirit what it means for you to, “go” into your context with the message of the Gospel.

2 Corinthians 5:16-21 NIV
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Pray for a Spirit of reconciliation in Canada, primarily between the non-indigenous people and those who are First Nations people. Pray for us to bring our past sins and failures as a nation to the cross of Christ so that the power of forgiveness can minister reconciliation in our land. Pray for the entire nation to receive the grace of God so we can press forward into a future destiny that will be different from the past.

John 14:6 NIV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Isaiah 45:22 NIV
“Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.”
Pray for Canada and the nations to have a revelation of God that leads them to salvation.

Pray for the glory of God to cover the whole earth and for the nations to turn to see God accurately.

Let these words of mine, with which I have pleaded before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God day and night, and may he maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as each day requires, that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no other.
