Spiritual Practices

“Superficiality is the curse of our age….The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people.” – Richard Foster

Spiritual practices are ways that we can intentionally place ourselves before God to receive His grace and to have our inner life transformed.
They provide pathways to enable us to become more fully alive in Jesus through the Holy Spirit’s work in us.
Learning to practice the way of Jesus through the use of deliberate spiritual activities is a vital part of the apprenticeship journey.
We’re here to help!

How Do We Change?

Personal transformation follows a predictable pattern.  We must have a vision of the kind of life we want, we must have intention to do something about it, and we need reliable means or methods from which to achieve it.

What is Spiritual Formation?

Everybody is receiving a spiritual formation, whether they consider themselves religious or not.

Training Vs. Trying

If you wanted to play the piano like Mozart or to run in the Boston marathon, could you do it just by trying really, really hard?  Not likely!

What would you need to do first?  Train!

Spiritual practices are God-given graces that enable us to train in the way of Jesus, so that we can become more like Him.

Every apprentice (no matter what the field may be) needs to learn what ‘tools in the toolbelt’ will enable them to do what they have set out to do, and for every apprentice of Jesus, there are various spiritual practices (‘tools’) that are useful in helping us receive the grace of God to bring about transformation of our hearts.
